International Skeletal Society - Grant Opportunities

The International Skeletal Society is proud to announce that the 2024 grant application submission process is now open. Information regarding each grant, as well as funding and guidelines, can be found with the links below. Each grant information page will also feature a link to the application form and submission deadline information.

 

ISS Research Seed GrantISS Early Career GrantISS Travel Grant

 

This year we are offering:

  • 2 Research Seed Grants of $30,000 each  

Applicants at all stages of career are eligible for this grant as long as it is mentored by an ISS member.  Applicants should describe the nature of the proposed research within the context of their current scholarly activity. Greater emphasis will be placed on efforts that serve as preliminary data for larger funding mechanisms, and are a part of a strategic career development plan. 

No restrictions on the nature of research projects are imposed. Any project proposing human subjects or animals requiring IRB or IACUC approval respectively, should acknowledge this requirement and include a proposed timeline for said approval.

 

Multidisciplinary grants are encouraged.

 

  • 3 Early Career Grants of $4,000 each 

Projects can be proposed by residents, fellows or attendings within 5 years of completion of their residency or fellowship.  

Each project should be sponsored by a member of the ISS or a member of a national MSK society that is affiliated with the ISS. No thematic areas are stipulated, although it has to be linked to the musculoskeletal field (diagnostic and interventional imaging, pathology, orthopaedics, rheumatology…).

 

  • Travel Grants for ISS Annual Meetings - $500-$2500 and are subject to change

Recipient must present and be a first author on presentation in the Members Meeting, Scientific Meeting, Refresher Course, Rad-Path-Surg Musculoskeletal Course or Ultrasound Course. Recipient must have a salary up to $65,000 dollars a year at time of application. Applications to the Researcher Travel Grant should be sent ONLY after notification of acceptance of presentation. Authors of electronic exhibits/posters are NOT eligible for travel grant award. Residents and Fellows are eligible for travel grant awards, but must have a presentation accepted in order to qualify.
