ISS Don Resnick Visiting Professor Program
(in honor of Dr. Don Resnick)
The ISS Don Resnick Visiting Professor program aims to promote the careers of mid-career musculoskeletal faculty and to encourage the international exchange of information concerning musculoskeletal practice and education and to establish professional and academic collaborations, friendships, and networks. The program will be offered twice per year and institutions and countries will change for each cycle.
Visiting Professors will be chosen from a different country than the host institutions. Each visiting professor will travel for 2 weeks and visit 2 institutions in another country. At each institution, the visiting professor will meet with local faculty and trainees, present 2-3 lectures and participate in daily activities of their relevant musculoskeletal colleagues (radiologists, pathologists, orthopedic surgeons, etc). Each visiting professor will also give a short presentation on their experience at the annual ISS meeting in the year following their professorship and publish a brief report in Skeletal Radiology. The ISS will cover expenses associated with the program.
Visiting Professorship Objectives
- Develop the visiting professor’s clinical, research and teaching skills through exposure to different practice patterns around the world
- Connect visiting professors with musculoskeletal physician leaders across the world
- Prepare visiting professors for the challenges of leading and improving the specialty

Eligibility Criteria
- Open to ISS and non-ISS members
- 5-15 years out of training
- Research and teaching experience
- Currently working in a different country from the selected institution
- Willingness to give a brief presentation at the Annual Meeting of the ISS and produce a short report about the travel experience for Skeletal Radiology after the program
Inaugural Visiting Professor Sites and Dates
The inaugural 2-week visiting professorship will include visits to the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)
